This page contains all information about baby animals, how to get them, what they do, and most importantly, the full list of baby animal abilities.

About

Baby animals are animal sidekicks that are obtained when the player finds an animal marked with 'Match', called a mating animal, and befriends them. They are the offspring of the animal that the player already befriended and the mating animal. For this reason baby animals cannot directly be found in the stampede. They hop ecstatically or fly several metres behind the player, and provide small positive boosts to the player, on which more information is provided below. They can be found in any zone from Savannah 3 onwards.

Obtaining

Baby animals can only be obtained when the player tames a 'match' of an animal they already have. Taming 'match' animals is identical to taming and befriending 'new' animals; all the player has to do is to find and stay on that animal until the meter, a pink double heart meter rather than a single heart meter, runs out. From there, a screen will pop up once the player completes their run asking the player to start breeding/speed up previous breeding (depending on whether the player already has an animal pair breeding in the zoo), cancel previous breeding, or don't breed. To speed up breeding, zoo coins must be paid, and this amount increases as the player's total baby animals, ranging from below 437.5Zoo Coin/hour to over 10,000Zoo Coin/hour. Only one animal can be 'matched' per run.

Information on Abilities

Each baby animal that is bred gives a small boost in up to four aspects. There are two forms of abilities, sidekick abilities and passive abilities, and the rarer the animal bred, the better the abilities that their offspring will have, and the more aspects they will boost. Sidekick abilities are abilities granted to the player when they choose that certain baby animal as their sidekick, for example, "crates give 25% more coins", "bucks are 6% smaller" or "eating animals is 2% more effective". Passive abilities are tiny boosts which affect the player even if that baby animal is not the player's sidekick, for example, "lasso shrinks 1% slower".

The ability that the baby animal gives is fixed for each different type of animal, and are usually based on the adult form's attributes, for example, the Baby Flight Attendant, a type of eagle, has the ability "flying animals swoop 15% slower", the Baby Lion has "eating animals is 5% more effective" as its ability, and one of the Baby Water Buffalo's abilities is "animals are 10% faster in water".

Notes

  • The abilities for endangered baby animals were changed in version 1.7.1 on the 19th of April.
  • The abilities for stegosauruses were changed in 1.15.0 on the 22nd of March.
  • As there are no epic animals that appear in the stampede, it is impossible to find a 'match' for any of these, and by extension, impossible to obtain a baby animal based on an epic animal.
