Petting Zoo animals are animals that can be unlocked in the Petting Zoo expansion.
Despite being skins of different animal species, having the same behavior as some animal species, they live in their own separate Petting Zoo habitat. This means that they are not counted as part of the species they resemble, and are unaffected by a species' habitat upgrades. Petting Zoo animals also have passive buffs that only work when the animal is in a 'good mood', which can be done by feeding the animal using diamonds (
).
To get Petting Zoo animals, the player must run in the stampede, and the distance ran will be added to the experience of that animal. The animal is instantly unlocked at the first upgrade (10000 exp) and will be upgraded to a different appearance at later upgrades.
Petting Zoo animals are distinguishable for their three separate and different appearances at their three initial upgrades, in which the first upgrade represents the baby version of the animal, the second upgrade represents the juvenile version of the animal, and the third upgrade represents the animal as an adult.
