The Echidna is the fifth pangolin in zoo order. It can be found in the stampede when the player upgrades their pangolin habitat to level 2 or higher.

Appearance[]

The Echidna, as suggested by the name, resembles an echidna. Unlike other pangolins, its long snout is pointier and ends with a small, round, black nose. Replacing the plates are thin, dark brown spikes with golden tips, covering it from head to toe. The Echidna's light grey claws are also slightly longer and sharper than the Pangolin's.

Description[]

Is inclined to go quickly.

Requirements[]

Note: Its chance of appearing is low due to it being a tier 4 animal. It will appear randomly but not often, and never before 1400m.

Baby Echidna[]

  • Jump from animals 10% faster
  • Fire burns 25% slower

Trivia[]

  • The Echidna is based on an echidna, a species of animal that, like pangolins, is small, can curl up into a ball and has a protective outer layer.
    • Echidnas are not a type of pangolin in real life, nor are they closely related, having evolved separately. A major distinction is that echidnas are monotremes, meaning they lay eggs, while pangolins aren't.
    • The Baby Echidna's ability "Fire burns 25% slower" references how echidnas are native to Australia, which is notorious for its hot weather and bushfires. Many Outback animals also have this baby ability.
  • Its description is likely a reference to Sonic the Hedgehog's catchphrase "gotta go fast", as the words used in both phrases are synonyms.
    • This could be either due to echidnas and hedgehogs being similar in appearance, or due to Knuckles, a character from the game series, being an echidna.

Notes[]

  • The Echidna was released in version 1.24.0 on the 23rd of October 2019 on iOS and the 25th of October on Android, along with all other pangolins, roosters, kirins and VIP animals.
