Ocean before 1000m

Ocean is the tenth zone released in the game, in version 2.0.0 on the 14th of April 2022. It is the first Ocean Zoo zone, with the player being required to accumulate distance to upgrade habitats. It is unlocked when the player reaches Savannah 4 in the Sky Zoo, along with the Ocean Zoo. It contains the new mechanic , where the player must collect bubbles in order to fill up their O² meter. If the player's O² meter runs out, the screen will begin to fade to black, and the player will either die by crashing into an obstacle that they cannot see, or be forced to end the run. Crabs also act as an obstacle, moving side-to-side and obstructing the player's path. Lastly, kelp is introduced, which slows the player down and hides any wild animals passing through. Like all other Ocean Zoo zones, it can only be played twice every 6 hours to begin with, with some animal upgrades reducing this slightly.

Tips and Strategies[]

Ocean is a difficult zone, especially due to the fact that habitat upgrades are unlocked by playing it more, and also the fact that the player is restricted by their O² meter. A lot of animals in the Ocean have a side-to-side motion that means they take up more lateral space than animals normally would. The obstacle density is also very high, and most obstacles cannot be jumped over. Clownfish are perhaps the safest option due to being very small and agile, as well as abundant, however, clownfish are relatively slow, and the player is likely to eventually run out of O² if they do not pick a faster animal. Most other animals have a bulky and inconvenient hitbox, making them ideal for short bursts only. Squid and swordfish may be used to get to the next O² bubble faster, however their jerky motion and large hitbox may outweigh the benefit of its speed. Trouts are a good mix between the squid and the clownfish, having the speed required to reach the next O² bubble faster and having the small hitbox of clownfish. Sharks get angry quickly. However, fully upgraded sharks are very useful, being able to eat almost everything and run through coral. Blue whales, like sharks, can be useful in short bursts, being invincible to a lot of the obstacles in the stampede. When upgraded, manta rays and dolphins can give the player 2 seconds of extra oxygen, which can help at times. However, manta rays’ flight and a dolphin's jumping behaviour can make the player miss oxygen bubbles, which isn’t too great. Ocean has huge money-making potential, as crates are abundant and are worth much more than crates in the Sky Zoo. Crabs, blue whales and swordfish may be used to exaggerate this, as they can earn 2x more money from crates from a habitat upgrade.
