The Phantom of the Orthoptera is the eighth grasshopper that the player can discover. It can be found in the stampede when the player upgrades their grasshopper habitat to level 9.
Appearance[]
The Phantom of the Orthoptera has a purple head with the left part of its face being covered by a cream white mask, complete with a fuzzy dark spot replacing where its eye should be. Its wings and remainder of its body are also coloured a cool purple, however, its 'torso' is clothed in a black suit, which also covers its front four legs. From its neck a white cloth hangs loosely, and white wrist cuffs which form a sturdy square base cover its blue leg tips. Its hind legs can be seen to be purple with blue tips. A black aura surrounds the base of the Phantom of the Orthoptera, and tiny pink and white squares are emitted from its rear out behind.

- Ride past 1600m in Garden.
Note: Its chance of appearing is extremely low due to it being a tier 5 animal. It will appear randomly but very rarely, and never before 1600m.

- The Phantom of the Orthoptera is a play on The Phantom of the Opera, a hit musical which is one of the most famous and financially successful of all time. "Orthoptera" is the order (a large category of animal classification) which grasshoppers fall under.
- The description references how The Phantom of the Opera is a hit musical involving opera, by playing on the saying 'performing to a standing ovation', in which 'standing' is replaced by "jumping" to reflect a grasshopper's nature.
- One of the Baby Phantom of the Orthoptera's attributes may be a reference of an actor's ability to attract fans.
