The Lovebug is the fifth beetle in order in the zoo. It can be found in the stampede when the player upgrades their beetle habitat to level 2 or higher.

Appearance

The Lovebug has a similar general shape to the Beetle, albeit it is designed to look like a car. It has a cool dark blue body, head and legs, with a white plate on top of its head, sporting the number 53 in blocky numbers on a black-bordered white octagon, and three vertical stripes, coloured red, blue and a thin grey stripe from right to left. Its back also features a similar stripe pattern, and also has two dark blue stripes lining the lower edge of the shell, a large, silver bumper at the base of the back and two reflective yellow taillights. Its head includes the additions of a set of headlights, shaped octagonally with a silver edge and a reflective yellow centre, and mirrors just behind its headlights.

Note: Its chance of appearing is low due to it being a tier 4 animal. It will appear randomly but not often, and never before 1200m.

Trivia

• The Lovebug is a reference to Herbie the Love Bug, an anthropomorphic Volkswagen Beetle that was a featuring character from the Disney film The Love Bug. The Lovebug was likely chosen as a beetle due to the original car model being a Beetle.
  • The description also references Herbie, specifically the setting of the film and the fact that Volkswagen is a German automobile company.
  • The Baby The Lovebug's abilities relating to mating literally reference the 'love' part of Herbie the Love Bug, and may also relate to Herbie's sentient nature.

Notes

• The Lovebug was released in version 1.16.0 on the 8th of May 2018 on Android and on the 10th of May 2018 on iOS, along with all other beetles, centipedes and butterflies.
  • On iOS, all beetles, centipedes and butterflies were bugged, not appearing in the stampede up until version 1.16.1 on the 14th of May 2018.
